BLUENECK - "scars of the midwest" LP
Hailing from North Somerset, UK, BLUENECK formed in the early part of 2000 initially as a four piece but soon added a fifth member to enable a fuller live sound. Steering away from conventional songwriting, BLUENECK’s music has developed into a cinematic soundscape of ambient atmospherics, dark skeletal rhythms, haunting vocals, and swirling crescendos, all created with analogue synths, sparse piano and huge, soaring guitars. They operate in a similar post-rock territory to that of Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Sigur Ros and Mogwai with a nod in the direction of Radiohead’s Kid A/Amnesiac period. BLUENECK self-released this first full length album in 2006 after having spent a year and a half locked away recording in the hills of deepest Somerset, having delivered a dark, dynamic masterpiece which puts the band truly in a class of their own.
